What We Do

1. Q. What is Deregulation?

  A. Deregulation has enabled energy pricing competition in many areas

of the United States where before there was no choice. Historically

only the utility controlled the generation, transmission, and distribution

of energy. Companies in deregulated areas can now shop for the best

price and choose the company that supplies their electricity or natural

gas. The transmission and distribution functions are still regulated and

will still be controlled by the local utility.

2. Q. If I do switch, will I have to worry about the reliability of my

energy service?

  A. No. Regardless of who supplies your energy, the utility will continue to

deliver it uninterrupted, ensuring that sufficient electricity and natural

gas are available. Utility crews will still respond to emergencies and

  power outages.

3. Q. Is there a chance I will lose power when I switch companies?

  A. No. There will be no interruption of service if you switch to a

competitive supplier or from one utility to another.

4. Q. How do I benefit by partnering with Priority Energy

Consulting?

  A. You will be cutting a significant amount off one of your largest

overhead expenses, your energy bills. Bottom line is choosing Priority

Energy Consulting will result in your company receiving the largest

cost savings and best possible energy deal available.

In addition, you will also save valuable employee resources and focus

which in turn saves you even more money. You will be able to focus

on your company business instead of your electric or natural gas

commitments. You will have confidence that the energy product

chosen and agreement negotiated is not only the most cost effective

but the best strategic fit for your company moving forward.

5. Q. How much is retaining the services of Priority Energy

Consulting going to cost my company?

  A. The question should be “How much is retaining the services of

Priority Energy Consulting going to SAVE my company?” Your

company will not pay Priority Energy Consulting directly for our

consulting services. Our fee is paid by the energy supplier your

company ultimately chooses and contracts with to provide your

electricity and/or natural gas service. On average our payment

equals out to about three tenths of a cent per kilowatt hour or less.

The actual percentage can vary based upon the volume/type/amount

of energy being contracted for and the complexity involved in the

overall consultation effort. Our value proposition is simple. We know

that satisfied customers whose trust we have earned will continue to

rely upon us year after year for their energy consultation needs.

6. Q. What causes electricity prices to rise?

  A. Electricity prices are determined by supply and demand. The short-

term price can fluctuate significantly from day to day. For example if

one generation facility is out of service in the middle of a heat wave,

demand for electricity can easily exceed the supply capacity.

Electricity would have to be imported from neighboring regions at a

higher cost which would affect the short-term price of the electricity

being delivered. Long term electricity prices are influenced by factors

like population, economic growth and environmental policies.

7. Q. How much U.S. energy consumption comes from renewable sources?

  A. In 2009, renewable sources of energy accounted for about 8.2% of total U.S. energy consumption and 10.5% of electricity generation.

8. Q. Who will read and maintain the meters at my business?

  A. Your utility will continue to handle metering. However, as competition evolves, metering may become a deregulated and competitive service.

9. Q. Who is responsible for safety and reliability of power delivery?

  A. The delivery system is the responsibility of the utility. The utility maintains the lines and repairs them if there is an

outage. The regulatory body overseeing utilities in your state ensures that the utility provides a safe, reliable

  delivery system.

10. Q. What is the Letter of Authorization?

  A. The Letter Of Authorization (LOA) grants us permission to pull a clients previous 12-month energy usage data.

We typically obtain the required data from the local utility by faxing across the Letter of Authorization which

contains your account information and signature.

Note: A separate LOA is usually required for each service area having accounts. Exam: If you had locations in

both Reliant and TXU service areas, you would need to provide LOA’s for both Reliant and TXU.

11. Q. What is Renewable Energy?

  A. Renewable Energy, also known as green power, is energy generated by the sun, wind, earth and water. These

resources replenish themselves naturally. Renewable energy fuels include solar, biomass, hydro, wind and

  geothermal.

12. Q. If I purchase Green Power, How Does the Green Power reach my place of business?

A. In order for renewable electricity to benefit the environment it does not have to reach a specific end user. The

important fact is that the renewable electricity is delivered to the electricity grid. The generation of zero- or low-

emitting electricity has benefits to the environment no matter whether your business uses a specific, renewable-

generated electron. By purchasing RECs, you help support the operation of renewable energy generation. In a

typical “green power purchase” an electricity consumer pays for generic electricity from the “grid”. There is a

separate purchase of RECs from one or several renewable energy facilities in an amount that matches all or a

portion of the actual electricity purchase. With the purchase of RECs, the customer is buying the renewable

attributes of a specific amount and type of renewable energy generation, which support green power production

and builds the market for renewable energy.
